Kelly is one of few British gymnasts known to have broken into the Great Britain team as a first-year senior at the age of 16, as opposed to climbing up the junior ranks, highlighting Kelly’s extraordinary perseverance and determination. Whether it’s competing on the international stage for over 12 years, to training 30 hours a week in one of the most demanding sports out there, or fighting back to return from multiple major injuries, Kelly has stories and lessons that can be shared to impact multiple target audiences.
She has had some exceptional achievements throughout her career, including four Commonwealth medals from three consecutive Commonwealth Games, a World Championship team bronze medal, as well as major titles including British All Around Champion in 2018, and an historic World University Games All Around title in 2015.
Like most, Kelly’s career has not come without its challenges, and understands as well as most the physical, mental and emotional demands it takes to excel in high performance sport. What makes her journey somewhat more unique is that her demanding training schedule took place alongside university undergraduate and master’s degrees. Kelly earned a first-class honours degree in Applied Sports Science in 2019, before returning to complete her Master’s degree, graduating just a few weeks before the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Kelly aims to show that you can get through whatever obstacles come your way, that you don’t have to be the most talented in the room to achieve success and how time management, organisation and working well with those around you can help you achieve incredible things.
