As a child Hilda experienced ongoing traumatic due to domestic violence which left her mute. Of mixed white and Indo-Caribbean heritage she felt the impact of racism growing up in rural Gloucestershire. Hilda’s passion for writing led her to a career in journalism followed by senior communications roles for organisations like The Children’s Society, the British Red Cross, Text 100 public relations consultancy in India and the Ministry of Social Development in New Zealand.
After experiencing bullying and burnout in the workplace when she was in her early 30s Hilda decided to step back from the corporate world, reassess her life and re-train in holistic health.
She considers herself to be a lifelong campaigner, adventurer and global citizen having travelled to over 50 countries, been involved in a campaign to ban landmines and another that raised awareness of female genital mutilation leading to the UK’s first prosecution.
In 2023 she spoke in India to 20,000 villagers about how we are united by our common humanity.
